Second MARS General Assembly in Pamplona (AIN)

On the 17th and 18th of January 2024, the MARS Consortium came together for the second in-person general meeting in the picturesque city of Pampeluna, Spain. Hosted by our value consortium partner AIN – Navarra Industrial Association, the event took place at their headquarters in Cordovilla, a charming village just 15 minutes from Pampeluna.

The meeting not only provided an opportunity for the consortium partners to discuss the progress of the MARS project but also marked the beginning of an exciting second year in this four-year journey. It was a testament to the dedication and collaboration of the consortium, highlighting the project’s potential to revolutionize the world of manufacturing.

City Tour in Pamplona

One of the highlights of the event was the city tour organized by AIN – Navarra Industrial Association, where participants had the chance to delve into the rich cultural and historical fabric of Pampeluna. Here are some fascinating insights about the city:

  1. Pampeluna’s Basque Identity:

    Known as Iruña in the Basque language, Pampeluna serves as the capital of the Chartered Community of Navarre. This unique blend of Basque and Spanish influences adds depth to the city’s cultural heritage.

  1. Local Football Passion:

    Pampeluna takes pride in its local football team, CA Osasuna (Club Atlético Osasuna). The team’s presence reflects the city’s sporting fervour, bringing communities together in support of their beloved club.

  1. The Annual Bull Run:

    Pampeluna is renowned for its annual bull run, which takes place from July 7th to 14th. This tradition, deeply rooted in the city’s history, draws visitors from around the world to witness this event.

The meeting in Pampeluna served as more than just a gathering of like-minded people; it was a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation. The MARS project is at the forefront of manufacturing advancements, leveraging blockchain technology to transform the industry’s landscape.

Key discussions included data management with a particular focus on handling large data and local storage solutions, visual inspection and computer vision, tool wear assessment, consolidation of homogeneous data and the more complex integration of heterogeneous data using an AI algorithm and the concluding details of personalisation.

As the MARS consortium embarks on its journey to reshape manufacturing, the second general meeting in Pampeluna marked a significant milestone. The collaborative spirit and innovative discussions highlighted the progress made in areas such as AI modeling, federated learning, and cloud storage solutions. These developments underscore the consortium’s collective commitment to pioneering blockchain technology in manufacturing, setting the stage for further advancements in the field.
